Typical Day At St Matthews Playgroup
Children arrive with their parent or carer
ready for the start of the session. They spend an enjoyable
hour or so playing with their friends and choosing the activities
to play with;
Splashing in the water tray
in the craft and painting area
with the construction toys
scenarios with the small world activities
up or sitting quietly in the book corner
on a dry day, there is the well supervised garden area to investigate
as well as more activities to play with.
After tidy up time we have a small or large group activity followed
by hand washing and a sociable snack.
we have a variety of additional activities for the children
to enjoy - bikes, scooters, push chairs, ball games, skipping
or back inside the children join in with singing songs and rhymes,
sometimes we use the musical instruments or take part in circle
and action songs, The children may have an adult read story,
Then for the rising 3 group it's time to go home.
it will be time to wash our hands and tuck in to your scrummy
the Children have finished lunch, the children are given several
choices of activities (usually of a quieter nature for those
full tummies), then the children may have the option of a walk
to one of the many lovely places to visit such as victory park,
the canal or maybe a trip to the shops (weather permitting),
or activities fitting into to our topic will be set up.
children usually have a group activity before greeting the parents
or carers for home time.
